Mr Ng Yau Keung
Mr. Ng Yau Keung Benjamin received a B.Sc. Degree in Biology from the University of Hong Kong and a M.Ed. degree in Educational Administration and Policy (Dean’s List) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Mr. Ng has just retired from the position as the principal of the HKTA Ching Chung Secondary School after the end of last school year.
He has served as Council member and the Chairman of the Human Resources Management Committee of HKEAA for 5 years, handling various appointment and public examination matters, launching a number of strategic development initiatives.
He has served on many public bodies, including being appointed as Member of the HKSAR Appeal Board Panel (Education), the External member of the Foundation Studies Board of VTC, Member of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation and Chairman of the Kwun Tong Community Youth Chest.
Benjamin has regularly been invited to be the guest speaker and mentor of Courses for School managers, Principals, Vice-principals, Middle managers, which are organized by the Education Bureau, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Education University of Hong Kong. His sharing on school strategies and roles of different stakeholders for Career and Life Development Guidance have been well received by the participants. His work in education has captured the attention and been widely reported in major media, including the Sing Tao Daily, Hong Kong Economic Journal, Radio Hong Kong and TVB. He has also been invited by the Hong Kong Principals’ Institute to contribute an article “Embracing Education Reform” in the publication : Hong Kong Principals’ Anthology.
Mr Poon Hing Fai
Mr. Poon Hing Fai received a BEd (Hons) degree in Education from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He continued to pursue his master’s degree. In 1996, he was awarded the MEd majoring in education administration, school culture and leadership of the principals. In 2011, Mr Poon continued his studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and was awarded the MA majoring in Christian studies and counseling studies.
In 1999, he was promoted to Ling Liang Church MH Lau Secondary School as the founding principal, where he devoted himself in developing the school for 22 years before his retirement in September 2021. During his tenure, he has made many achievements. In 2015, he led the school to achieve the Golden Fidelity Award for the Outstanding Achievement of Inviting School Awards of the International Alliance of Invitational Education. He led teachers and students to attend international conferences and shared their stories of success in New York, USA.
Over the years, Mr Poon has devoted himself to curriculum development and educational administration. He was invited by EDB to share his inspirations and practices in the promotion of life-wide learning to unleash students’ potential. He has also served as the tutors of the Aspiring Principal Courses and part-time lecturer of educational management in different institutions. He was invited by the EDB Principal Support Network to work as the mentor for the newly appointed principals. He actively participates in the professional training of principals and shares his experience in education administration.
Mr Poon’s current public involvements include: Court Member of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Chairman of the Tai Po District Youth Federation, and volunteering as a supervisor and school board member in several schools etc. Mr Poon has served as the chairman and executive member of many organizations, including: the Chairman of the TEKLA Committee, Curriculum Development Council EDB, the Member of Secondary School Places Allocation Committee EDB, the Chairman of the Tai Po District Secondary School Heads’ Association, the Vice Chairman of the New Territories School Heads’ Association etc.
Mr Poon compiled his teaching experience into a set of three-volume secondary school textbook: “New Design and Technology” Pilot Publishing Company 1990 (Chinese and English versions), the textbooks are approved by the Education Bureau as formal textbooks, and are recognized by teachers and widely adopted by schools.
Mr Poon’s public service enthusiasms and contributions have been recognized and affirmed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and he has been awarded the following honors. In 2008, he was awarded the “Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service” by the HKSAR in recognition of his dedication and service to education in Tai Po District. In 2015, he was awarded the “Medal of Honor” to commend him for promoting youth development and dedication to promoting artistic development. In 2021, he was awarded the honor of “Justice of the Peace” by the HKSAR, in recognition of Mr Poon’s outstanding contribution to public service in Hong Kong and his endeavor for improving the quality of education.
